SPEED trainer - EMS device

As part of this project, an EMS device was developed in several stages. Based on technical specifications, the concept, design and prototypes were systematically refined until a mature, ergonomic and production-ready solution was achieved. The work illustrates the complete process of structured product development.

Concept

The Speed Trainer is a compact EMS device for mobile use. The task was to develop a robust, intuitive system that would transfer the existing electronics into an ergonomic and clearly structured housing. The basis for this was a true-to-scale 3D package that defined all relevant components.

Design

Several design variants examined material combinations, operating logic and manufacturing options. The focus was on good operability, a clear button structure and a design language that supports both a high-quality appearance and suitability for small series production. Variants ranged from polygonal housings to minimalist metal-plastic combinations.

Prototyping

Models and prototypes were created using vacuum casting and thermoforming processes for functional testing. Operating sequences, viewing angles, haptics and the positioning of buttons and controls were iteratively adjusted. User feedback was directly incorporated into the optimization of ergonomics.

Final product

The final EMS device combines compact design, clear operating logic and high manufacturing quality. Aluminum and plastic parts form a robust housing, while the ergonomic arrangement of the elements enables safe and efficient use. The design is optimized for small batches and is made ready for production.
